Extremely Proud Of My Grandson

Yesterday June 30, 2023 my grandson and friends were enjoying time on the Overlanders Beach when they heard a fuss from a person who was out in the river. They looked and thought the person was goofing around so they went back to digging holes.

About 15 seconds later they heard a cry for help. A person was in distress out in the river and my grandson who is 15 years old jumped into action and ran into the water along with one other man.

“I should add my grandson just finished a long Lifeguard course not 3 weeks ago and has to wait until he turns 16 years old this year to apply for a Lifeguard position here in Kamloops.”

My grandson reached the person and slowly swam back to the shore with him in tow. I was told the person was totally worn out and was in trouble.

As they reached the shore other people ran into the water and helped the person to dry land. My grandson’s friends already had called 911 and emergency responders showed up, but the person was OK, just pretty much drained.

So all in all, I am so glad my grandson and the person who needed help ended up safe.

I’m also very proud of my grandson for helping out another who was in trouble.
